Who is the course for?

The course is designed for participants with linguistic abilities at level B2 (and more experienced speakers) who want to improve their English presentation skills. The course is especially suitable for companies where English is commonly spoken. The course focuses on rhetorical skills and the main theme of the course is – how to deliver an effective presentation. Perhaps, you have a vision of an English presentation ahead of you and you would like to gain some solid practice ground before you stepon the stage. Or perhaps you are just curious and would like to find out what is an effective presentation about. Or maybe you are already rather experienced rhetorician who would like to get some further inspiration for future speeches. Or maybe you are looking for further ways to provide your employees with extra education. In any case, the Rheto-in-company course is here for all of you.

What do you get out of the course?

Upon completing the 10-week course, students will definitely feel more at ease with their public speaking in English and experience greater confidence while presenting in front of others. The course focuses on furthering the knowledge of how to make your presentations effective and engaging for your audience. It will carefully step by step guide you through the process of preparing and structuring an effective presentation in various settings. And the seminar is also enriched by interactive exercises which will transform your speeches into a “flourishing state”. Notably, students will prepare themselves for the final performance which will also involve video-feedback. Lastly, progress of the student-rhetoricians will be ensured by motivating, energizing, and empowering them with principles of positive psychology.

What will be the technical structure of the course?

The course is designed for 10 weeks. The course is designed for 4 to 8 participants. Each week we have a 2-hour session in which we focus on new rhetorical skill and the session consists of a theoretical as well as practical hands-on-experience as students are asked to prepare a short 5-minute presentations as their homework. Every week we focus on different topic and a new skill is implemented into the speech as an additional component. This way the participants have got more time to gradually internalize their newly acquired knowledge and skills. At the end of the course, the participants will have their public presentations with video-feedback. The final presentations usually include all course skills and take from 10 to 15 minutes. It is followed be a self-reflection as well as constructive peer-feedback. At the end of the course, we can have a symbolic celebration of your hard work and progress.

Our usual package includes 30 min consultation / assessment of your needs + 20 hours combo. The 30 min entry consultation is free of charge and held on line. The actual course consists of 20 x 60 min (1490 CZK/hour) and the overall cost is 29 800 CZK. The price to be invoiced after the entry consultation and before the course sets off. If your company is out of Prague, additional cost (750czk/100km) for commute is added to the calculation of the price.

Please, bear in mind that I am not a VAT (DPH) payer. Cancelling policy is 24 hours before the scheduled session or the session would be counted as taught. Under special and exceptional circumstances, leniency can be applied.

About the facilitator

Karel Wichterle, M.A.
Psychologist & Drama therapist
Mr Wichterle underwent an extensive 3-year academic training course at Roehamton university in the UK, in which he mastered various techniques of using the expressive medium of drama in order to enhance people’s well-being and work skills. Notably, in the Rheto-seminar he uses the principles of positive psychology, NLP, mindfulness mediation and guided visualization combined with concept of emotional memory and many other concepts that are likely to promote one’s rhetoric qualities. Mr Wichterle employs a student-centred approach and is very flexible when it comes to tailoring the course to each student’s individual needs. His facilitation provides students with autonomy and support that foster their natural ability to be creative and spontaneous. Nevertheless, he is very persistent in building a cooperative and supportive atmosphere among his students. Finally, his course is fun as the participants are encouraged to play many interactive games. He has been teaching rhetoric seminars and classes since 2010.
